What’s in the Yard

We know Bix is growing up because his poops are now giant, solid brown logs. This morning, he willfully deposited one right in front of the orange, dust-coated cement mixer that’s stationed in our side yard. I wanted to cheer him on, but I’ve learned I ought to keep these sorts of mean-spirited thoughts to [...]

Oh Pillow, My Pillow

When Dan and I moved out to Arizona, to a house at least three times the size of the studio apartment we shared in New York, one of the first things we did was trek down to Ikea to pick up a couch. Unfortunately, we returned from that trip couchless and out $600, and our [...]

In Business

In other less pathetic but still woefully self-absorbed news, I received my business cards in the mail the other day.

At around the same time I noticed that I had actually achieved a professional goal: within four months of quitting my soul-sucking desk job, I’ve become a web designer working almost exclusively with some of the [...]

During My Afternoon Run

Things Shouted At Me

“Hot body!” — Dude in pickup truck
“Why are you running? You don’t have to run!” — Homeless man
“Hey, volunteer girl!” — Guy who runs the Farmers’ Market, where I’d asked about volunteer work
“Heeeeeeeeeey!” — Dude in pickup truck
“Good morning!” — Old Mexican man

Cataloging

Yesterday I began to finally photograph the various pieces of art and craft I’ve made over the past few years, a process that’s been both humbling and inspiring—though I’d say more the former than the latter, as I’m deriving a lot more inspiration from many various artistic bloggers than I am from gazing at my [...]

Back

I’m back from San Francisco, after some delay and a sore throat, which I could look at as an appropriate homecoming surprise (but won’t because I’m trying to be more posititive). I didn’t take as many pictures as usual this trip, mostly because I spent my time either shopping–at some of the many, many awesome [...]

SF

On Saturday I am going to one of my most favorite places on Earth–San Francisco. (The other favorites are New York, Portland, and Paris, of course.)
I’m planning to hit Philz (on a friend’s recommendation) for a freshly-brewed cup of coffee, and RAG (my favorite local clothiers) for some cute new skirts, Aquarius (best record store [...]

Getting Hitched

This shot looks crazy to me. Not sure why. I took it during the Snow Bowl hike in Flagstaff, AZ, with Dano and his family.
So, married folk, where did you go on your honeymoons? Why? How was it?
I think we’ve finally picked a spot for the wedding. It’ll probably be in Sedona, probably at the [...]

Sunday Hike

Sunday’s hike was at the Snow Bowl in Flagstaff. We took Bix up part of Humphrey’s trail, then relaxed for a while in a beautiful grassy field before heading back down to Sedona for Greek pizza and beers.
