I’m in the throes of packing for the cross-country move. Today I finally boxed my ArtBin, which I’ve been carrying around since high school. It contains, among other things, charcoal, pastels, pencils, oilsticks, and other artistic supplies that I hope to use with some more regularity in the high desert of Arizona over the next year. But what really distinguishes this plastic box as an artifact from my youth is the circa-1994 silkscreened sticker of a drawing of Hello Kitty wearing a t-shirt that says “Riot Grrrl.”
ah, yes, you gave me a silkscreened riot grrl kitty fabric square that I safety-pinned to my bookbag back in the day! i still have it somewhere. i remember packing it when i left ny.
