By now it’s hit all the major news sources, but for some reason the reporting of Jodi Lane’s death by electrocution in the East Village Saturday is disturbing me more than the other gunshot-laden New York news of the weekend. Perhaps it’s because she lived just blocks away with her boyfriend and dogs, perhaps because she’s a fellow graduate of Sarah Lawrence, or maybe it’s because I — and everyone else in this city — tromp over the same metal plates every day as I make my way around the city. It’s a tragic story.
At Gothamist, readers argue about journalistic truth in blogging and the necessity of posting possibly disturbing documentary images.
