So I was strolling through the Union Square craft market this afternoon when a well-dressed Japanese man stopped me and asked if I’d like to be photographed for a magazine article on street fashion.
Um, hi, me?!
I mean, really. I thought for sure they would be disappointed when they got a full-on look, but they were obsessed with my hat and bag. The hat’s a hot pink knit cap that looks like a cross between one of those Billburg newsy hats and a knit rastafarian cap. You may be familiar with it already. The bag is from YakPak, where my friend Esther works; I got it in exchange for modeling the new Levi’s line for the catalog. They loved it! The rest of the crap I was wearing was from H&M and thrift stores — a mix they could have spotted on any street corner in the East Village. But in Union Square, surrounded by bunch of tourists in fleeces from Old Navy, I must have somehow stood out.
How strange - I was there yesterday afternoon too - having trawled around the flea markets. Post holiday, some tea for sure!
Hmm, some other people have told me they were trotting around that area at the same time, too. Why me with all of you fabulously stylish people there?!
Fran = supermodel!
Supercool. I hope they are sending you copies of the mag when it comes out.
If you guys are in town for the holiday, holla. If not, I think I will end up at some kooky Christmas Eve party at Filter14.
Ebin! I’m out on LI for the next few days, but we should catch up this weekend. I’ll ring you.
