Late night

Last night I stayed up until after three AM filling out forms and organizing for the Great Graduate School Switcheroo. I have decided to go through with the applications that I started last year at Columbia, NYU, and the New School. This is mainly due to the fact that I will have to take out some loans to finance my CUNY education, where the tuition is like $2 per class. See, the compelling thing about CUNY was how cheap it is. If I have to take out loans to get my MA, I might as well get more bang for my buck, suck it up and be an NYU kid.

“No NYUs is good NYUs,” my clever friend John would say. I might lose some friends making this move.

Anyway, the late night last night has gotten me back on a terrible schedule — and I have to work tomorrow at 8 AM. I am once again feeling that dread that is associated with the pre-layoff time period: I don’t want to go to work, I loathe what little time I have there. Well, I guess that’s not entirely true. I do like the café and the people I work with. What I really loathe is the thought of what I am going to do to pay my rent in two weeks. Working for one-half of my regular pay and pinching every penny won’t even come close.

I have even been looking for a desk job. Seriously.

I think I’d better bake some cookies now or something. At the very least I can be productive with my late night.
