The Stone Age

Just the other day I received an email from my friend Justin, who commented on the travails that I represent here at gritmedia. Later that day, or maybe a few days later, I received another email — this one from a friend of a friend who had taken a gander at the site — that noted my ability to deal with insecurity and neurosis with style in a public forum. Gee, I thought, I must write a lot about the bad in my life, and not enought about the good. Everyone thinks I’m miserable!

Certainly, nothing could be further from the truth: I’m going back to school to get an advanced degree in something that’s meaningful to me; I’ve got a decent an lifestyle-fitting job and a family who takes care of me. Pretty good, right?

God forbid I write about anything heartwarming though. Please.

Earlier this weekend a friend decided he would go ahead and “fix” my computer. Using some schmancy new OSX software he downloaded, he proceeded to defragment my hard drive, therby attempting to free up some space and improve system performance. Alas, somewhere along the way — and we’re not sure how this happened — the program went awry and my computer was rendered to a little shell of its former self.

So I’ve been a little out-of-touch in the blog world, seeing as I haven’t been spending the same amount of time in front of my computer. I haven’t been answering many emails either, because the interface of most webmail programs annoys me before I can actually get any replying done. I apologize to anyone who’s been expecting a reply. Good Christ, will I have to use the phone now?
